Accurate speech recognition
- Even in noisy environments!
Intelligible text-to-speech (TTS)
- Users may opt for intelligible TTS prompts or recorded prompts using their own voice.
Your-voice confirmation
- When dialing a contact, VoiceDial replays the user's voice to confirm the correct contact. Users can also use their voice to access contacts on the device’s SIM card, as well as from the contacts list.
Continuous dialing response
- When speaking a phone number to dial, users may speak at their usual speed and cadence. VoiceDial responds continuously - no pausing or waiting is necessary for each digit to be dialed separately.
Unlimited contact list size
- VoiceDial builds a database of all contacts. Users may easily download their entire Microsoft Outlook contact database to Pocket PC Phone Edition devices. The only limit to the number of names users may add or access is the amount of memory on the device.
Customized pronunciation
- VoiceDial enables users to improve accuracy where needed or to add a nickname for a particular contact.
Customizable display
- VoiceDial supports screen rotation (either Landscape or Portrait display) for added convenience. The user interface is scalable for optimal device screen size; and users can minimize the interface so it doesn’t obscure information on the screen.
Highly accurate
- Even in the noisiest environments like cars, restaurants, airports and sporting events. Perfect for busy people who are on the go.
Speaker independent phonetic recognition
- No voice training required.
Natural voice
- With the natural voice prompts, user interaction with the device is clear and easily understood.
Low memory requirements
- VoiceDial is optimized for low-memory devices, including mobile phones and PDAs.

Does Fonix VoiceCentral work with my Bluetooth headset?
- At this time, Fonix VoiceCentral does not support Bluetooth due to limitations of the Windows Mobile operating system and the devices that are currently available. Currently, Bluetooth audio only reaches the telephony circuitry and not the main CPU, which is necessary for speech recognition. Fonix is working with Microsoft and several device manufacturers to support Bluetooth headsets on future devices.
Alternatively, use a device such as the Jabra A210. This device will connect your Bluetooth headset directly to the audio jack of your Windows Mobile Device.

- Yes.
How do I get the full (non-trial) version of Fonix VoiceCentral?
- The only difference between the trial and the non-trial version of Fonix VoiceCentral is the license number. Without a license number, you may only use VoiceCentral for 30 days before it will stop working.

For best speech recognition accuracy
- Wait until you hear the single beep and/or see the blue microphone volume bar before speaking. If you speak too soon, Fonix VoiceCentral may miss the beginning of your command.
- Speak the entire command phrase. For example:
- Say 'Call John Smith'
- Do Not Say 'John Smith'
- Say 'Call John Smith at home'
- Do Not Say 'John Smith at home'
- Pronounce your words clearly.
- Do not speak too slowly.
- Speak loudly, but do not yell.
- Add a user pronunciation to names that have difficulties.
- Remove names from the speech recognizer that are rarely used.
- Use an external microphone. Sometimes the internal microphone of a PDA or mobile phone can be damaged or defective.
- Remove or change names in your contact list that may be similar to one another.
- Make sure names are entered in the 'First Name' and 'Last Name' or 'Company Name' fields. Fonix VoiceCentral uses whatever name(s) is/are in the 'First' and 'Last' name fields or the 'Company' name field of the Contacts database. If the names are accidentally put in the 'Suffix' or 'Middle' name fields, the speech recognizer will not use the correct name.
For advanced users
- Fonix VoiceCentral remembers the last phone number you called for each contact, so you needn't say the phone location again. For example, once you have called a contact at home, the next time you call the same contact you may say, \"Call (first and last name).\"
- Once you are familiar with the prompts, minimize the Fonix VoiceCentral display to a small bar at the top of the screen.
- Stop Fonix VoiceCentral while speaking long phrases by pressing the \"Launch\" button again.
- Set the user preferences to add any number you have just spoken to the contact list.
- Customize your voice prompts by replacing the wave files in \"\Program Files\Fonix\VoiceCentral\SoundClips\" with your own recordings. Be sure to name the wave file with the same name as the file you are replacing.
- Speed up the overall process of making a call by turning off some of the following user preferences:
- \"Enable Extra Audio Help\"
- \"Confirm Digit Dial\"
- \"Confirm Call Contact\"
- Manually rebuild the speech recognizer by un-checking and then re-checking any name on the contact list in the VoiceCentral Settings Application.
