Problem: Whenever I update Contact names, I get an error message: \"Can't build recognizer.\" When I select \"ok,\" it says \"Contacts updated\" and then another message \"Error in file:\program files\fonix\voicedial\voice dial.fbx\" appears.
- Users may encounter this issue on previous versions of Fonix VoiceDial if there are any non-alpha characters in the name of a contact on the Sim card. To fix it, either remove the non-alpha characters, or download a new copy of the VoiceDial install.
Problem: Fonix VoiceDial is not recognizing properly.
- Problem: Fonix VoiceDial should provide recognition rates close to 95 percent or better.
- Turn off microphone AGC. This function is usually found on the Start->Settings->System page on the device.
- Try using a headset microphone. It is possible that the mobile device has a poor internal microphone.
- If you have more than 200 contacts, try trimming down the list that is included in the recognizer by un-checking some contacts on the \"Contacts\" page of the VoiceDial Settings application. Make sure that the \"Speed vs. Accuracy\" slider on the \"Recog\" page of the VoiceDial Settings application is set somewhere in the middle or towards the Accuracy side.
Problem: Fonix VoiceDial recognizes what I say, but it won't dial the number.
- Some early model Pocket PC Phone Edition devices (e.g., Audiovox Thera 2032) did not use the standard phone application or the standard telephony functions; instead they used something called \"Watcher.\" As a result, the phone dialing functions in VoiceDial will NOT work with the Audiovox Thera device.
Problem: When I say a company name, Fonix VoiceDial recognizes the company name, but it brings up the information for a different contact.
- Fonix VoiceDial searches the \"first\" and \"last\" name fields first when searching for a contact. If the name is not found, then VoiceDial searches the \"company\" name field. If you have multiple contacts with the same company name, and one or more of those contacts do not have a first and last name, VoiceDial may not be able to find the intended company contact. To resolve this issue, enter the company name in the \"first\" and/or \"last\" name field.
Problem: Fonix VoiceDial tells me, \"Please speak more clearly.\"
- For various reasons, speech was not recognized. There may be too much background noise in the area. You may want to try again with the headset, or you may need to speak louder and more clearly.
Problem: Fonix VoiceDial takes too long to recognize a name.
- Using the VoiceDial Settings program, tune VoiceDial speech recognition settings by sliding the performance setting closer toward the speed side to improve recognition speed. If speech recognition becomes inaccurate, you have moved it too far. For more information, see the Fonix VoiceDial Users Manual.
Problem: Fonix VoiceDial operates slowly.
- If Fonix VoiceDial operates slowly, or speech recognition seems to lag or become inaccurate, check to see if there are other programs running on the device that could be closed to free up memory.
